Senegal Medical Mission and Education Trip (Spring Program):

During this trip, youth participants will travel to Senegal for a medical trip lasting one or two weeks, depending on the individual’s schedule. Students interested in a healthcare career will engage in valuable hands-on medical experiences, interact with experienced physicians, receive education on routine medical practices, and be welcomed into a community of passionate students excited about spreading medical care all around the world. Additionally, they will be introduced to the unique culture of the country of Senegal, having opportunities to explore the fascinating landscape and interact with the welcoming community, making memories of a lifetime.

Healthcare Insights: Exploring Medical Mission Data (Summer Program):

The summer program focuses on exploring medical mission data from previous missions to Senegal. Divided into two stages, the program aims to provide participants with insights into healthcare data analysis and reporting.

  • Stage 1: Knowledge Preload: Introduction to data collection, preparation, and basic descriptive statistics. Learning data visualization techniques and exploratory data analysis methods.
  • Stage 2: Exploring Senegal Medical Mission Data: Cleaning and preparing the medical mission data. Calculating descriptive statistics and visualizing data trends. Conducting modeling analysis and writing comprehensive reports and publishing. Evaluation and feedback mechanisms ensure participants’ learning and growth are assessed.

Medicine Exploration: Preparing for the Senegal Medicine Mission (Winter Program):

  • Overview: The winter program aims to prepare participants for the Senegal Medicine Mission by focusing on medication research and reporting.
  • Objectives: Cultivate medical knowledge and research skills, promote collaboration, and prepare for the Senegal Medicine Mission. Utilization of previous mission’s medication list for research purposes. Participants conduct research on selected medications, understand their functions, contraindications, and effects, and present their findings through discussions, presentations, or poster displays. Writing comprehensive reports and publishing. Evaluation and feedback mechanisms ensure participants’ learning and growth are assessed.
