In March 2024, my daughter and I went to Senegal, Africa for the second time to participate in the  Africa Cries Out volunteer medical mission.  Doctor Xiao Yang asked me curiously: Why do you want to go to Africa again?  Yes, why? I also asked myself in my heart...   Dream Realized in Africa Time flashes back to March 2023. Since I learned about Dr. Xu's volunteer medical mission in Senegal, Africa in 2019, and saw the deeds of Dr. Faye and Pastor Anna on the ACO website, I have been looking forward to setting foot on that land and planned to participate [...]

Senegal, Africa: Volunteer Medical Mission–Blessed Again By Jenny Zhao May 24, 2024 Africa Cries Out Report 2024 013

      2024-06-18T16:49:43-04:00

This year, my child and I participated again in the Africa Cries Out Mission Trip in Senegal, and my heart was still full of anticipation as the first time. This time, my child started preparing early and kept sharing her experiences of the last mission trip with her circle of friends. There were several of her friends who were very interested, but their parents had more concerns, and most of them did not go. One parent agreed and prepared to go, but because she signed up too late, she could not go, so we could only encourage her to sign up earlier next time.   Coming with [...]

Experiences of a First Timer By Xiaochuan (Shawn) Liang Africa Cries Out Report 2024 012

        2024-06-10T09:43:21-04:00

As someone who has never been to Africa before, I was very excited and nervous during the trip and was always wondering what else would be in store. The work was exciting, but even if it sometimes felt monotonous, there was still a clear purpose and a sense of accomplishment in the work I was doing. For example, on the first day, I ended up spending a few hours just sorting medicine, which is not the most engaging activity. However, seeing the bags pile up after a while, a tangible representation of the support I was giving helped dull any sense [...]

Before I knew it, a year had quickly passed, and I was already packing my luggage in preparation for my second trip to Africa. Since my first trip to Senegal, I have constantly relived the experience, and I longed to return to witness the change that had completely transformed me . This year, I was fortunate enough to join the surgical team in a continued effort towards providing medical and surgical relief towards the underdeveloped communities we would encounter.                                        Arrived in Senegal [...]

My Life Changed in Two Weeks by Victoria Li March 2023 Africa Cries Out Report 2023 021

              2024-06-05T18:31:52-04:00

Earlier last year, I joined my mother on a two-week long medical mission and encountered first-hand the bleak reality of rural Senegal. Organized by the Africa Cries Out Foundation, the trip was supplied with large bags of different kinds of medications to provide for the local community. This experience was completely different to any other I had had in the past, and I’ve taken away so much from this trip. The values, people, and places I had met and experienced will remain completely invaluable to me, and I genuinely believe I have grown as a person from this trip. The trip [...]

Outcry From the Inner Heart: God’s Unfailing Love by Yang Di May 2024 Africa Cries Out Report 2024 010

                  2024-06-04T16:00:54-04:00

I have always wanted to set foot on the African continent to see the running wild animals, the starry sky, and the baobab trees...but I have never been able to make the trip. This time I learned about the free clinic organized by Africa Cries Out and thought it would be meaningful to not only help others but also experience the local culture in Africa. But because I wasn’t sure whether this move came from God’s guidance, I didn’t dare to act immediately. Only God’s love could give me the courage to act.   The courage to set off The decision [...]

Today, the Africa Cries Out medical team drove three hours to a village. Please allow me to share the service work of our medical team and youth volunteers. There are too many gifted brothers and sisters and talented friends who will also be reporting, so I will not be writing about specific medical or scientific stories. Let me just tell you about what I have observed on what the medical team do, and about the customs, culture, and traditions here. We saw many half-built houses on the roadside, which seemed to be abandoned without any further construction.  The bricks they used seemed [...]

Dear caring people, one of our youth team member, Nathan Jiang, participated in the "Africa Cries Out" medical/surgical mission for the first time in March last year. He witnessed first-hand the plight of African patients who lack resources for proper health care. When he returned to the United States, he began to actively work part-time, and advocated for the African patients to their church, relatives, and friends. Through his efforts, he raised $20,800. He then used the funds to purchase two ultrasound machines, one of which was donated to the Fatick Regional Hospital in Senegal. Another ultrasound machine will [...]
