From that moment, love and responsibility took deep root in our hearts. A year ago, when I heard about the opportunity to travel to West Africa, a combination of volunteering and traveling, I knew I had to go. My missionary medical volunteer trip to Senegal was a life-changing experience. At first, I struggled with the overwhelming heat and the unfamiliar surroundings. I was exhausted and felt out of place. Honestly, all I wanted to do in the first couple of days was go home. But as each day passed, the time we spent became more and more valuable. A little girl stumbled towards me in grass-woven sandals crunching the loose gravel beneath her.  Smiling, she raised a wooden stool, motioning me to sit upon it. Her juvenile rheumatoid arthritis  did not impede her from offering a kind gesture to a familiar face. Although I had been in the  Fatiga Leprosy Village just days at this point, I felt honored to sit alongside the physicians and  villagers congregated in prayer under the central village tree. Participating in medical relief activities in Africa is certainly a profound experience. There, we faced various challenges such as a lack of medical resources, high incidence of diseases, and harsh environmental conditions. At the same time, we also felt the significant help our medical knowledge and skills have provided to the local people, as well as the positive impact on their lives. During this event, I encountered patients with knee injuries causing hematoma, patients with heel abscesses, and villagers lining up demanding joint injections. ONE In 2022, our family happened to meet Dr. Jun Xu and learned about the Africa Cries Out medical mission in Senegal, West Africa. What began as a chance encounter, fueled by a beautiful hope, became something inevitable. In March 2023, after months of careful consideration, my wife and daughter bravely set out on their journey to Senegal. After the medical mission ended, my daughter wrote an article titled "My Journey to Senegal Changed My Life." After several days of collaboration during free medical clinics, the surgical and anesthesia teams of the "Africa Cries Out" surgical group had developed seamless coordination.                       The surgical team arriving at the hospital for the day's surgeries.   On the fourth day, the first surgical patient was brought into the operating room.
